What is Nebivolol
Nebivolol is a highly cardioselective vasodilatory beta1 receptor blocker used in treatment of hypertension. In most countries, this medication is available only by prescription.[Wikipedia]
Nebivolol mechanism of action
Nebivolol is a selective -beta;1-receptor antagonist. Activation of -beta;1-receptors by epinephrine increases the heart rate and the blood pressure, and the heart consumes more oxygen. Nebivolol blocks these receptors which reverses the effects of epinephrine, lowering the heart rate and blood pressure. In addition, beta blockers prevent the release of renin, which is a hormone produced by the kidneys which leads to constriction of blood vessels. At high enough concentrations, this drug may also bind beta 2 receptors.

What is a Bystolic?
Bystolic belongs to a group of drugs called beta blockers. Beta-blockers affect the heart and blood circulation (blood flow through the arteries and veins). The drug is used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure). Lowering blood pressure can reduce the risk of stroke or heart attack. Bystolic may also be used for other purposes not listed in this medication guide.
Do not skip doses or stop taking Bystolic without first talking to your doctor. Stopping suddenly can worsen your condition or cause other serious heart problems, such as severe chest pain or a heart attack. You may have to use less and less before you completely stop taking the medicine. If you need surgery, tell the surgeon that you are using Bystolic.
Bystolic can disrupt your thinking or reaction. Be careful if you are driving or doing everything that requires your attention. Bystolic is only part of a complete treatment program that also includes diet, exercise, and weight control. Watch your diet, medications and exercises very carefully.
Continue using Bystolic as directed, even if you feel good. High blood pressure often has no symptoms. You may need to use blood pressure medication for the rest of your life.
