What is Ranolazine

Ranolazine is an antianginal medication. On January 31, 2006, ranolazine was approved for use in the United States by the FDA for the treatment of chronic angina. (Wikipedia)

Ranolazine mechanism of action

The mechanism of action of ranolazine is unknown. It does not increase the rate-pressure product, a measure of myocardial work, at maximal exercise. In vitro studies suggest that ranolazine is a P-gp inhibitor. Ranolazine is believed to have its effects via altering the trans-cellular late sodium current. It is by altering the intracellular sodium level that ranolazine affects the sodium-dependent calcium channels during myocardial ischemia. Thus, ranolazine indirectly prevents the calcium overload that causes cardiac ischemia.

What is Ranexa?

Ranexa is an antianginal drug intended primarily for the treatment of angina pectoris. An effective remedy contributes to the rapid improvement of the condition of patients, attacks of angina pectoris considerably weaken and become rare, even after the course of treatment has been completed.

The effect of this drug is different from similar and unique in its kind. An important advantage of Ranexa can be called the fact that it does not cause tolerance during treatment, therefore, over time, no increase in dosages or replacement of the drug with a more potent drug is required.

Ranexa is applied and acts equally on both men and women. During the reception, the state of health improves markedly, and the patient’s physical activity increases as a result of increased endurance and muscle tone.

Tablets must be swallowed without chewing or crushing them; this should be done 2 times a day, regardless of the meal. The initial dose of Ranexa is 500 mg, then, if there is such a need, the dose is increased to 1000 mg of the drug 2 times a day, which is the maximum allowable dose. If the patient has negative symptoms, reduce the dose again.

Self-administration or change in dosage is prohibited. For people in the risk zone, and with special instructions, it can be assigned to the smallest dosage for a healthy person according to the testimony of a specialist.
