Indication of Tapentadol

The immediate-release formulation of tapentadol is indicated for the relief of moderate to severe acute pain. The long-acting formulation serves as a continuous, around-the-clock analgesic that is indicated for the relief of moderate to severe chronic pain or neuropathic pain associated with diabetic peripheral neuropathy.

What is a Nucynta?

Nucynta is an opioid analgesic drug. An opioid is sometimes called a drug. Nukint is used to treat moderate to severe pain. An extended release form of tapentadol (Nucynta ER) for round-the-clock treatment of pain that is not controlled by other medications. It is not used as needed for pain. You should not use Nucynta if you have severe breathing problems or a bowel obstruction called paralytic ileus.

Do not use Nucynta if you have used a MAO inhibitor in the last 14 days. Dangerous drug interactions can occur. MAO inhibitors include isocarboxazid, linezolid, methylene blue injection, fenelzine, rasagiline, selegiline, or tranylcypromine.

Nucynta may slow down or stop your breathing, especially when you start using this medicine or when your dose changes. Never take this medicine in large quantities or for longer than prescribed. Do not crush, break or open an extended release tablet. Swallow it whole to avoid exposure to a potentially lethal dose.
