Gout is a disease of organs and joints, associated with a violation of the exchange of uric acid in the human body. This violation leads to the deposition in the joints and organs of crystals of urate salts or urates. As a result of deposits, joints develop on the joints (tofus). The formation of uric acid in the body occurs as a result of the breakdown of compounds of purines, obtained from meat food.
Despite the fact that gout is quite an ancient disease, there is no way to cure it completely until now. When it comes to treating the disease, we mean its maximum freezing. Gout treatment works in two ways: normalizing the level and removing excess uric acid from the body and minimizing the frequency and intensity of gouty attacks.
As part of the drug treatment method, patients are prescribed drugs for gout. Within the group, antidotal drugs are divided, depending on the type of exposure, on drugs used in the onset of a gout attack and drugs for the treatment of chronic gout.
Using the drugs of the first group, it is possible to remove inflammation, temperature and pain in the affected area and shorten the duration of the attack. Analgesics and anti-inflammatory drugs for gout are usually classified as non-steroid (colchicine, diclofenac sodium, acroxy, indomethacin, etc.). Aspirin, despite the fact that it also applies to nonsteroidal drugs, should not be used, because it can increase the level of uric acid, which will intensify the attack.
Also to the group of pain relievers from gout are more effective drugs – hormone drugs. They are called glucocorticoids. They are prescribed in the case of late stages of the disease when non-steroid painkillers can not relieve pain and inflammation from a gouty attack. These drugs quickly relieve the inflammation of the affected area and reduce pain. They are used most often in the form of injections into the area of the inflamed joint, once or in a small course. These drugs include betamethasone, methylprednisolone.
When stopping a gout attack, the patient is given special ointments. Medicinal ointments have a calming effect, removing the residual inflammation of the joints.
