Nausea and vomiting accompany diseases of various organs and systems, as well as to such states as motion sickness – it is transferred with great difficulty. Nausea is a feeling of discomfort, expressed in unpleasant sensations in the mouth and in the organs of the digestive tract, where these symptoms manifest themselves both separately and together.
For vomiting and preceding nausea, a special center of the brain responds, helping to remove potentially dangerous substances from the body. That’s why, if you suspect food poisoning, you should not rush to take drugs for nausea and vomiting. Also do not rush to take a remedy for nausea, if pregnancy can not be ruled out. Sometimes this symptom accompanies such conditions as hypertensive crisis, cerebral blood flow disorder and hormonal abnormalities. They do not exclude the use of anti-emetics but require appropriate treatment of the underlying disease.
Drugs can be grouped into two types. The first includes medicines suppressing the nerve centers. Such drugs for nausea can affect an unpleasant symptom of any origin. Their use is justified against the background of treatment of the underlying disease or vestibular disorders (motion sickness). The second type of medication for vomiting affects the causes of its occurrence. For example, restores the digestive process by correcting the microbial balance of the intestine or additional enzymatic processing of food. Also, such drugs include agents that affect peristalsis, promoting the promotion of dietary masses.
