Scabies – the infectious disease that develops when penetrating the skin of an itch mite. Diagnosis of scabies is based on clinical manifestations, epidemiological data, and laboratory methods of examination. Confirmation of the diagnosis is laboratory is especially important with the erased clinical picture.
Since the disease affects both adults and children, the principles of treatment in these categories of patients are almost identical. But in childhood practice, when prescribing medicine, age is necessarily taken into account. Creams, gels, ointments for external use are used since the parasite is localized in the surface layers of the epidermis.
Before using the medication, the patient should be washed to mechanically remove ticks and microbial flora from the surface of the skin, and rub these preparations into the entire skin (except the head), especially vigorously in places of typical localization. In some cases (complicated by pyoderma and eczematous dermatitis, rubbing is replaced by lubricating the affected areas with these anti-parasitic drugs.
